Mad as March Hares
Posted by Ian Everett on Tuesday Mar 19, 2013 Under UncategorizedAnd so Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona comes to a close, 200 attending countries, tens of thousands of delegates over a 4 day period, 1,700 Exhibiting companies over 94,000 net sqm of exhibition space. The 40 strong team on site rose to the challenge of building the 2 story structure over the 2 week build window. The customer had a superb working environment of demo stations, fully fitted offices, hospitality areas with informal and formal meeting space to work from.
This picture is day 3 of the build, already the steel substructure is in place and the first floor is being laid. This was a great project to Technically Direct and I really enjoyed working with the local crew.
Another business event this month was ticked off at G-Live in Guildford for just under a 1,000 delegates. Last week saw a return to a 4-3 format screen ratio. Not a popular format nowadays, usually we work to wide screen 16×9 ratio however with the way the venue works this screen size of 20’ x 15’ suits the stage proscenium. A live act repeating a popular TV advert, awards, voting and videos from America meant for a varied tempo for the day.
Here Terry and Rick check the screen for any marks before being flown out on the in house truss.
This week I renewed my lapsed First Aider training. Booked for the 3rd time with St John Ambulance. A very thorough and professional course covering, shock, burns, major and minor bleeding, electrocution, crushes and CPR, (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
I think in our line of work we should all make the effort to stay current on this sort of front line response when life could be at risk. If you are interested in taking the course here is the link.
