Health and Safety at Work – How do you approach safety at work?

I am currently into week 2 of a 13 week day course for Nebosh National General Certificate for Health and Safety. It is a course that covers a broad spectrum of different types of business.

One fact this week that made me think was that over recent years between 130 to 190 people a year head off to work for a normal day at work but do not come home because they are killed at work.

A sobering thought, in fact a further 20,000 people suffer major injuries such as amputations, burns and fractures.

How can you make your own work environment a safer place to work?

A good reference book for Health and Safety at work has been written by Phil Hughes and Ed Ferrett called

Introduction to Health and Safety at work (now on it’s 6th edition)

Also there is information on the HSE website www.hse.gov.uk
